I'm making something I've wanted to make for years: a root beer cake. The batter turned out great. Now for the frosting: classic vanilla buttercream or cream cheese frosting?

As I was typing this, I had kind of made up my mind that vanilla buttercream was the way to go. So I'm glad everyone here is in the same line of thinking.

Vanilla. But I have strong feelings about French Buttercream over swiss. It would be more ice-cream-y too.

By that I mean whole egg vs whites. Cooks calls it classic buttercream.
